Didn't expect the bottle cap and bead compartments to actually get used, but my son fills them constantly. It's the only shelf that's survived his "treasure" phase without everything ending up on the floor.

My son's collection of bottle caps and crayon boxes finally has a proper home instead of living in a shoebox under his bed. The shelf is shallow enough that it doesn't swallow up his room, but the little treasures stay visible and reachable.

We bought this for our daughter's room and it's become her little treasure spot — she lines up her bottle caps and beads on the lower shelf and keeps her picture books up top. The height works well for a five-year-old to reach everything herself.
